Reiki

Reiki is a perfect complement to endurance running, yoga, and Ayurveda, as it works on the body’s energy system to promote holistic well-being.

The word “Reiki” is a Japanese term, combining “Rei,” which translates as “universal wisdom,” and “Ki,” or “life force energy.” This concept of life force energy is found in many cultures under different names, such as “Chi” (in Chinese) and “Prana” (in Sanskrit).

Mikao Usui, the founder of the Reiki system, developed five precepts as a set of ethical guidelines for practitioners and Masters. These principles can also be used as a mantra during running or any other form of exercise to help you persevere.

The five precepts are:

  • Just for today, I will not anger.
  • Just for today, I will not worry.
  • Just for today, I will be grateful.
  • Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
  • Just for today, I will honor all beings.

This subtle yet powerful practice promotes relaxation, reduces stress, and encourages the body’s natural healing abilities. As a certified Reiki Master in the teachings of Lotus Light Reiki and Usui Shiki Ryoho, I am honored to share this healing practice. Reiki is a perfect complement to endurance running, yoga, and Ayurveda, as it works on the body’s energy system to promote holistic well-being.

I’m not currently accepting clients, but I look forward to opening my practice again in the future! When I do, I’ll be offering hour-long sessions on a sliding scale.
